MRED+U students actively engage in internal, local, and national real estate competitions that challenge them to apply their skills in development, finance, design, and urban strategy. These events provide hands‑on experience, exposure to industry leaders, and opportunities to collaborate across disciplines.
Over time, our teams have earned recognition for their innovative thinking and strong analytical work. MRED+U students have been selected as finalists and received honorable mentions in a variety of real estate–focused competitions.
These accomplishments highlight the program’s commitment to experiential learning and the high caliber of our students. Whether presenting a redevelopment concept or crafting a strategic investment plan, MRED+U students consistently demonstrate the creativity and professionalism that define our community.

Project summary: Tapestry reimagines Old Oakland as a mixed live/work district rooted in its historic character. The project blends 40% affordable housing with diverse building types and community‑focused design, emphasizing connectivity, sustainability, and cultural identity.
